Before I went to Vigan and feast on what the Ilocanos has to offer in terms of their culinary expertise, I was able to manage to squeeze in some time to have a "fancy" lunch with Philippine Tatler at The Manila Peninsula, The Conservatory. Of course with Bestie in tow, obligatory food photos ensued… Feast your eyes on what the life of the high and mighty, or at least their regular meal time, looks like…

Arugula salad, shaved fennel, crumbled goat cheese, candied pecans, hazelnut dressing
Roasted pumpkin, sherry thyme cream
Pan seared salmon, haricot vert, chive mashed potato, lemon caper beurre blanc
Sticky toffee pudding with caramelized banana, Yoghurt ice cream

So why was I invited to this Appreciation Lunch by Philippine Tatler? Well as a media buyer, I place ads on behalf of my client on the said High Society magazine. They hold this event annually in honor of the brands and advertisers who supports them and at the same time, grant awards (imagine: heavy glass trophies) to their top advertisers. And no, I'm not included on the list of awardees. Maybe someday when I occupy their IFC's (Inside Front Covers) and BC's (Back Covers) on a monthly basis. Hehe. For the meantime, I'm satisfied by being able to rub elbows with the rich and affluent (once in a while) and of course, strike a conversation with them (without fumbling) and realize that they are also human.

Here's to an even more successful 2012 Philippine Tatler!

PS: I initially thought of posting this on my other blog (The PR Guy Eats) but since there's no money or personal cooking involved, I opted to have this tucked under the pages of my main blog. I hope it's alright.
