Third time's the katsu charm as Yabu opened it's 3rd branch at SM Mall of Asia via an exclusive pre-opening party for lifestyle editors; food, fashion and lifestyle bloggers last

November 27. (The branch opened its doors to the public the following day)

Unlike at the opening of their Robinsons Magnolia branch, I was at their SM MoA opening early (actually, a tad too early) and was able to witness the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Steven Tan - VP for Premier Malls, Yabu's John Concepcion and Gerry Santos
Mr. Concepcion, Yabu's President, welcomed the guests and shared the inception of Yabu during one of his trips to Japan and how the brand has grown a year after the first branch opened.
Chef Lee Jose introducing Yabu's newest katsu dishes
Yabu's SM MoA branch, according to its brand manager Denise Cabotage, is their smallest compared to their first two but it fell nothing short of the unique design consistency and the cozy ambience which we, the patrons of Yabu, loved.

And now for the craziness that is katsu

Hmm... I'm smiling in my photos. Not typical of me.

You must be wondering what gives.

What: Shulong DesignYourShu Event
When: November 25, 2012
Where: Trinoma, Cinema Lobby

and Res Toe Run rallied artists and shoe junkies last November 25 to let their creativity loose with their own Shulong designs.

Participants from different universities in the metro were encouraged to go crazy with their designs while still having a unifying theme which best represents their respective schools. Their weapons of choice?
  • 2 sheets of iron-on stickers
  • 4 pairs of colored shoelaces
  • paint
  • acrylic pens
  • a pair of Shulong YourShu
Time allotted: 3 hours.

Shulong, which means "Comfortable Dragon", is not your typical sneaker. These Wushu-inspired sneakers have a special handcrafted sole - similar to how Wushu shoes are actually crafted. The secret is how the shoes are "cooked" when they are assembled. The shoes are placed in a special oven until the rubber insole becomes a sturdy but comfortable sponge inflated with micro air bubbles.

But what makes Shulong stand out is the wearer's ability to customize these special shoes. Each pair of Shulong's, in its low and high cut styles, comes with two sheets of iron-on stickers, four pairs of spare laces in different colors and Pebeo textile pen. This way, every pair of Shulong Yourshu is sure to be one of a kind and truly the wearer's own.

Gracing the event were top Filipino bloggers featuring their own customized YourShu sneakers inspired by their respective blogs.

BoConcept celebrated its 60th anniversary last September and paying homage to its roots was the launch of SIXTY, the brand's anniversary book which serves as the brand patron's vehicle into the past.
The book recaps the highlights of the company's illustrious history from their promising beginnings in 1952 to their current success as an awarded brand, with 250 mega stores in major capitals and cities around the world. BoConcept certainly makes it clear that they are not just another furniture brand, but theirs is a company where success is defined in each piece that has a story and a commitment to its Danish heritage.
Though I frequent Bonifacio High Street, I've never been inside BoConcept's store before. My reasons being that I find it too early for me to invest on such things; and I always have this fear hesitation of going inside an upscale store. My fear is either I end up arguing with a snooty sales person for reprimanding me for just ogling plus the occasional sitting or worse, end up buying something impulsively leaving big burns in my pocket in the process.

BoConcept proved otherwise.

If you've never been a BoConcept store before, allow me to take you on a photo tour.
First thing that I actually took photo of. A dog table piece.

The new Ogi chair

Dogs again! I love BoConcept already.

More about Flawless!

The country's preferred clinic for face, body and medical services is inviting everyone to keep their eyes peeled for what they call a "fabulosuly explosive December" as the brand prepares for a grand 11th birthday bash next month.

It's National Flawless Month this December! And along with this month-long celebration of beauty and wellness is the launch of Flawless latest advocacy campaign, The BillBag Project.

We've seen the ads. We've seen the billboards. Ever wondered where do all those big tarpaulin materials go to after being used?

HP fan here.

I practically "grew" up with him.

Read the books. Watched the movies. Even joined a competition hosted by National Bookstore when the first book was brought to life via a board game. I lost by the way.

I still remember that one player was this annoying kid who had an actual scar on his forehead (caused by an accident) who knew the full song of the sorting hat by heart. He even had a tune for the whole thing but still, he's still annoying. He also lost. Even cried actually.

Now on to my look!

This is the second set that I and Adrian Gonzales, who's also a Harry Potter fan, did.
Ray-Ban frames
Topman collared shirt
Springfield jacket
Topman pants
Converse Chuck Taylors
This was supposed to be my entry for the Ray-Ban Legends campaign but due to deadline conflicts, I was not able to submit this set on time.

Why Harry?

"We launched Flaunt mainly to better get our message across an array of audiences.
…not only are we now able to send out our messages across a wider market, we also do so using a platform that evokes the kind of lifestyle we promote - fun and dynamic yet sensible."
-Rubby Sy, CEO of Flawless

And that is how Flaunt, an online magazine on, came to be ever since it was launched last april 2012 replacing the brand's monthly newsletter.
Much like the brand represents, Flaunt was founded on the premise of making beauty accessible to everyone. From beauty tips courtesy of Flawless' acclaimed roster of Skin Professionals to stories of human interest, the publication aims to i prove the quality of life people have by giving them the tools they need to achieve the most beautiful expression of themselves.

Along with the recent launch of Flaunt magazine to the media is the new and improved digital domain of Flawless which hasn't been touched since it was launched 2 years ago until now.

"One of the main highlights of the site is the e-commerce. This was borne out of  a number of request from Filipinos abroad to make our products available for shipping to other countries. I'm personally very proud of this feature because it take us one step closer to realizing this," shares Drew Donovan Mendoza, Flawless' Business Manager

In its efforts to better connect with its target market, Flawless recently revamped the way the brand interacts with the rest of the online community by bringing a "new voice" through its Facebook Fanpage and Twitter account.

Known for introducing ground-breaking aesthetic concepts to Filipinos, Flawless makes another first as it revamps the brand's communication tone in an effort to "speak the language" of its market.

"Language and communications are two very dynamic subjects. We've been observing online trends since last year and one thing we found out is that people respond better to brands who speak the way they do." - Patricia Mendoza, Flawless' Marketing Manager

Now after seven flawless issues, Flaunt is back with a surprise in its November issue.

What's in the bag? Find out more on my upcoming posts.

In the meantime, check out who's featured in Flaunt's latest issue!
