OF SHOE TREES AND OTHER SHOE NECESSITIES

You love your shoes? You should take care of them!

On a recent SM Accessories hoarding spree, I got these (except for the leather conditioner and Suede & Nubuck cleaner) for my shoe collection.

Brushes,
I don't know why I have two. I guess I don't want the other one to be lonely.
Polish and whitener (for my rubber shoes and my Chuck Taylors!),
Kiwi shoe whitener (SM Accessories/SM Dept. Store)
Kiwi shoe polish (SM Accessories/SM Dept. Store)
Conditioner and cleaner (for shoes with special materials),
Suede & Nubuck cleaner (Traffic)
Leather conditioner (Aldo) - I also use this for my leather bags and jackets
and there's the shoe tree.
SM Accessories plastic shoe tree (available at SM Department stores for only Php49.50)
I'm sure you're familiar with the phrase that goes "beauty from within." Well the shoe tree does just that with your pair of shoe.

But first, what is a shoe tree?
source
According to Wikipedia, a shoe tree is a device approximating the shape of a foot that is placed inside a shoe to preserve its shape, stop it from developing creases and thereby extend the life of the shoe.

Higher quality shoe trees are made from solid wood, usually cedar, which helps control odor and absorb moisture.

Shoe trees may also be made of plastic (just like the SM Accessories ones) or stamped sheet metal, with or without a coiled steel spring stem; these are typically cheaper, lighter, and are better suited for travelling.

How to use a shoe tree:
Fold upward the heel part of the device
Insert the device in the shoe making sure that the front end reaches a snug fit.
Once in place, fold the heel part of the device back to its original position.
Now the shoe tree is snugly in place.
You can also adjust the shoe tree based on the shoe size by pressing together the metal wire (middle part) to release its hold and placing them on the holes located at the heel part of the device. The higher the holes, the bigger the shoe size it can accommodate.
And that's it! Now you can preserve the shape of your favorite leather shoes at just a fraction of a cost!

Visit your nearest SM Department stores and look for the SM Accessories section for more useful shoe items (and more stuff)!

  2. This may be a stupid question but, does these shoe trees come in pairs when you buy it? 50 pesos seems way too cheap for a pair of these.
