Urbanears is proud to present the 2013 Fall/Winter collection - lilac, cobalt and clover. Each new color in this collection is playful, unusual and bent a tiny bit towards the eccentric. Give in to caprice, and stand out from the crowd in these three brand new shades.

Lilac is a light purple shade that adds a dash of fairylike whimsy to your day. Whether you're frolicking through fields of wildflowers or just on your way to work wishing you were, this pale violet pair of headphones is sure to enchant event the most ardent of cynics. Clap your hands if you believe!
Although you can probably expect to find this intense blue hue on your grandma's china, we think it deserves more than a life hidden away in the dining room armoire. We used our alchemy skills and transformed this chemical element into a richly sapphire-shaded pair of headphones you'll want to off every day.
Today is the day you can stop searching for that ever-elusive four-leaf clover. Carry these bright green headphones around with you wherever you go, and chlorophyll-induced good fortune will follow. Don't leave things to chance, we say. Create your own luck with these lucky charmers.

Your boss just called you to say that you're stepping in for a crucial meeting in two hours. It's unexpected but you're still confident that you can handle it. One hour later, your mother calls you to take care of a bank emergency. A few minutes later, an email from your son's day care teacher pops in and shares concerns about your child.

The day goes on to get progressively worse. You get one bad news after the other and before you know it, you have a nagging headache, you feel the tension creeping in your neck and you already have the urge to either escape or punch the person nearest you.

That is a sign of chronic stress. And more importantly, your body's way of sending out a cry of help. According to the American Psychological Association, stress is defined as a feeling of being overwhelmed, worried or run-down from unpleasant events. Unlike regular occasional stress, which is sometimes considered as beneficial, chronic stress is constant and persists for a prolonged period of time. You need to remember that not managing this has far-reaching consequences on your health - both the mental and physical aspect. In fact, some of these consequences may not be easily seen right away including:
  • Changes in your brain: Previous imaging and postmortem studies have reported a lower brain volume and a smaller size and density of neurons in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dIPFC) of subjects with major depressive disorder (MDD)1.
  • Increased risk of heart attack: St. Luke's Mid America Heart Institute revealed that those suffering from chronic stress are at greater risk of developing heart problems. Stress is also linked with a 42 percent higher risk of dying two years after a heart attack2.
  • Depression: Some stress can keep you motivated and alert, although researchers from the US National Institute on Mental Health found that chronic stress could lead to depression in sensitive people3.

So how do you help your body cope with stress and improve your health? "Well, the road to good health starts with a positive mindset and the determination to make better life choices," notes Dian Yu, Product Manager of Enercal Plus, an adult nutritional supplement made by Wyeth.

The following are some of the things you can start off with:

  • Do your lifts and push-ups. Or at the very least, make sure that you have some form of physical activity or exercise. An ideal time frame is 30 minutes, for at least three times in a week.
  • Reduce your caffeine and sugar intake. We know that nothing beats a sugar or caffeine rush; but be mindful of the fact that the "highs" that they provide often end with a sudden crash in mood and energy.
  • Say no to drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. All these may provide an easy escape from stressors; but the respite they give is at best, temporary and at its worst, ultimately debilitating. Always remember that it's best to deal with everyday life with a clear mind.
  • Eat healthy! Start the day right by eating breakfast (don't skip it!) and keep your energy up throughout the day by eating nutritious meals. Remember that the key word to eating healthy is "balance" —too much or too little of anything can be bad for your health. Drink a glass of Enercal Plus to help make sure that you get the nutrition that your body needs.

Enercal Plus, a product developed by Wyeth Nutrition Philippines, contains Nutri-Life Plus, which is a balanced source of 28 essential nutrients for immunity, strength, and heart health. It contains whey and soy protein that is a good source of amino acids needed by the body, which is easily absorbed to support muscle synthesis. Enercal Plus also contains vitamins A, C and E to support the immune system, calcium and vitamin D for bone strength, and has 0g transfat for a healthy heart.

So listen to your body and do not ignore its cry for help! Start on the ways to improve your health right now!

Theatrical (adjective) - exaggerated and excessively dramatic. "Paul rode the escalator of Resorts World Manila with theatrical caution". —ang taas eh.
HYPE on Lookbook
But with all exaggeration and drama aside, this is what I would wear when watching a musical at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
Ooops, wrong background. Hehe. | Photos by MJ De Leon
Minus the Ray-Ban's of course.
Forever 21 jeans | Uniqlo collared shirt | Basic House blazer
Sperry topsiders | SM Accessroies belt | Ray-Ban aviators
Nothing too fancy with just the right amount of "respect" to the place and whatever it is that I'll be watching.

MY DAY ON INSTAGRAM - 08/28/2013

Yesterday was probably the most productive I'd ever been as a blogger, albeit tiring. But getting to spend it with my favorite blogger friends, who's complaining?

1st event of the day: #VelociTime launch at Aracama —probably the most practical watch to own. A watch comes with an extra pair of straps. Buy four more and it'll be like owning seven Veloci watches.
2nd event of the day: #Rexona #RunToTheBeat launch at Club Haze. Got me very excited for my second 10K this October. Not bringing my iPod (I forgot) during my first 10K almost killed me with boredom. This time, leaving it will never be an issue anymore (You'll know why on my Rexona Run 2013 post). Can't wait to "party" at the finish line. *cue in Neyo's Closer*
3rd event of the day: #BUBondingatSMMoA. Traded my boots for a pair of ice skating shoes for the first time. I did ok. Now where is Verniece when you needed her?

Final event of the day: Dinner at the newly opened #YabuPH, SM North The Block. The best way to end the day and at the same time rewarded myself for a job well done (not) at the ice skating rink earlier with a Yabu Katsu feast!
There was supposed to be a fifth (and really final) event that day but traffic was business as usual. I was really looking forward to it 'coz it's gonna be my first time to set foot inside The Mind Museum. Next time. Next time. Pag may time —s#et. Haha.

PS: Being the responsible business owner that I am (I pay my taxes you know), I made it a point to accomplish all my responsibilities for my agency first before stepping out of the house and go full on blogger mode. Of course, I was still working the whole time I was out —on mobile. Got my working groove back because of the Napoles news. Here's to more good news for us all!

It's boots season once again! Or #sweaterweather as you tag it. Boots + Sweater? They go well together you know.

But don't limit the comfort of your boots to just pairing it with appropriate layers of clothing. Pharrell does it cool with shorts or if you be so traditional, see rightmost guy.
Or do it the Harry Styles way (as seen on The GQ Eye).
Whatever kind of boots wielding man you are, there are many styles for you to choose from. Here's a week's worth of boots I favor:

Congratulations Team James! 4 - 1 to last year's Team Phil's victory of 5 - 1? Not bad.

Powered by Clear, the number one men's shampoo brand, the biggest football all-star game in the nation shines brighter in its second year as World Cup champion Fabio Cannavaro and football legend Dennis Wise joins James Younghusband, Phil Younghusband and the country's top football talents.

It was a long road we traveled before we got to this exciting conclusion to this year's Clear Dream Match. Here are some important stops:

July 10, 2013 - Clear Dream Match 2 formally launched to the media at K-PUB BBQ, BGC. (See my coverage HERE)

August 10, 2013 - Clear Dream Match 2 Player Draft at SM Megamall Events Center:

With thousands of votes casted on the Clear Facebook page, the voting pool of 50 - consisting of Philippine Azkals, top United Football League players, University superstars and some local footballing celebrities - was trimmed down to 34, each one to be drafted by captains James and Phil Younghusband.

Garnering more than 100 thousand online points, Team Phil was awarded the first draft pick.

The Clear Dream Match draft consisted of three rounds. The first round saw James and Phil take turns in selecting their top five picks, Phil was given an extra pick for having won the match-up last year.

In the second round, the brothers drew lots to complete their roster. Then in the last round, the brothers were each given one wild card pick. The wildcard pick could be any player either within the voting pool, or outside the voting pool.

Here are the complete lineups:

Finally! As my good friend MJ said on my Facebook/Lookbook post.

This is #TBT material baby! Or more appropriately, #FlashbackFriday (<—is there such a thing?) since today is Friday and this online project were executed every Friday. Now that's a lot of Fridays!
HYPE on Lookbook
Taken at the lobby of Remington Hotel, this was the first (of four) #FashionFriday looks I came up for Resorts World Manila.

Staying at the hotel? Go for something fuss-free to fit in the atmosphere of the whole place! But don't forget to keep style in check.

Fancy a weekend at Resorts World Manila?

Piece of advice. Don't open a Youtube tab and play The Vapors' only hit song while reading this. It's just a silly song (fun though) which has nothing to do with this post.

Okay, maybe a little on the silly part.

Er, a little bit more. You can't be serious while you have the song playing in your head during this impromptu shoot at Little Tokyo. This happened right after my Kodanda experience with the girls.

But in all things seriously Japanese, I think I'm turning into one! Big fan of Hayao Miyazaki and his works. Appreciated The Wolverine even more having Japan as its backdrop. Green Tea Kit-Kats! Sushi, Sashimi, Japanese food in general. And the list goes on…

Now who's craving for some ramen and authentic mochi cream?

Inactivity strikes again! Remember it was in times like these when I posted (copy-pasted actually) the Top 50 Best Japanese Animation/Manga Movies on the blog? Now I'm just curious as to why instead of watching movies with happy endings and such in this kind of weather, why do we tend to wallow in familiar (but deep) waters? Pun intended.

And to think my greatest fear is drowning to my death.

Googled "best disaster movies" and IMDb gave me this result.
Trimmed down the list to just the water-related ones starting with well, what do you know? the No.1 best disaster film.

1. The Poseidon Adventure
 6. 2012
 7. The Day After Tomorrow

Our country bore witness to one too many fads this year as frequent as our storm visits (and to think we haven't entered the ber months yet). Speaking of fads, don't bother counting J.CO Donuts on the list.

Why? Try visiting their SM Megamall store. Or if you're living in the north (like I do), check out their Trinoma or SM North branches. You'll see (still) long lines as if the stores were on their first day.

If you're one of those many people who always fall prey into participating in the long human centipede exhibition at J.CO, I can't blame you. I remember taking part in several occasions myself. Eyes on the prize —that's my mantra. That's how I survive the wait. The prize? Alcapone!

Opening its doors to the Makati public last July 24, J.CO is proud to announce its 12th branch in the Philippine Market, conveniently located in the heart of the Metro's city business district. The Glorietta 2 branch, facing Fairmont Hotel, hosts a spacious 236 sq. meter corner location (you wouldn't miss it), where customers are given the liberty to dine and chat with one another.

The branch also hosts wrap-around al fresco-dining spots on both of its store fronts where customers can enjoy the hustle and bustle buzz of Makati from a laid back point of view and features new interior seating concepts that will certainly be cozy nooks for J.CO-ers.

The grass is greener this time of the year. And I'm treading on it. I hope you are too.

Way beyond awesome things have been happening left and right to me —both personally and professionally. There's the nomination, and then the nods of approval from formerly prospective clients. All this happened in just a period of one week! Can't help but grin like a mischievous elf in my green blazer.

Now you've probably seen me in a couple of events wearing the said blazer which leads me to a pressing blogging matter: Is it alright to repeat outfits? #bloggerproblems

I'm nominated under the Online Reporter category on's Virtual Style Awards! Help!

But first, let me thank the research team who tracked down all my "numbers." I know they're not by the millions but you guys made me feel RELEVANT. Very. Again, thank you.
Good choice with the photos too! Hehe.
I honestly don't know the people who nominated me in this category (I actually didn't know that there's even a contest!) and as my way of extending back my thanks to the effort of whoever did, lalaban tayo!

You see, I'm up against "institutions" in the industry. My 117 looks are not even a quarter of David's. Jenni's Twitter followers can easily snuff the life out of mine with an effortless breath. Ingrid is THE Bag Hag. And for the handful of times I appeared on print were not even a formal feature as a blogger compared to Ms. Dychiao. I'm up against the big ones but I'm gonna put up a good fight. I will try.

If you think I made an impact and delivered what being an Online Reporter is, you can vote for me here:

But first, you must register here:

You can vote for me up to 10 times in one sitting. Once you reach the maximum vote, you can resume the following day. Voting will run until September 15, 2013 (there's more time!).

Though the votes will comprise just a portion of the total criteria, your support will mean a lot to me. Big time! At least dun lumamang man lang.

Thank you and may God bless you even more!

A good lady friend of mine once told me that if ever I'm gonna start investing on material things, go for watches ('coz I'm a guy). The next best thing? Bags. I thought "yeah, right. as if I'm Fashion Pulis."

The same friend (she's not the Bag Hag by the way but she owns a lot of luxury branded bags as if she were) also brought me to my first visit to a luxury store wherein instead of bags, the shoes caught my attention. But a thought occurred to me at that moment. If I'm gonna spend thousands upon thousands of pesos on something which I'm just gonna step on and abuse on the streets of Manila, I might as well go for bags.

BREE, I think, is a good brand to start with.

BREE is a German bag brand that is "always an idea ahead of the rest."

Motivated by their enthusiasm in impeccable classic designs with a twist, BREE boasts of Top Quality Workmanship,
High Quality Materials Crafted To German Standards
Functional, Imaginative, Modern,
Practical functions you need in stylish forms you'll love.
Outstanding Product Design,
Elegantly Designed and Perfect for Everyday Use (I got the larger version of this this Auckland)
Bags That Underline Personalities.
Casual Elegance with Highly Practical Details
And most importantly, Bree "Burn for Bags." They're very passionate with their creations.
Combining Classic Practicality with Modern Style
BREE is the closest thing to owning a luxury bag minus the hefty price tag. Made of the highest quality material & workmanship, BREE bags give outstandingly good value for your money! I'm actually eyeing a couple more to add to my BREE bag collection (yes, I'm building one) and the best part? Those that I liked range between Php3,000 to Php4,000 only!

Here are some photos from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection of BREE, (the guy's beard is dope!)

(but the bags are more doper!)

Check out how I've worn my BREE Auckland three-ways HERE.

For more of BREE's latest collection, visit

BREE is located at the 4th Floor East Wing, Shangri-La Plaza Mall. Like them on Facebook too!
