COOKING FROM THE HEART WITH KNORR (AND SARAH)

Looking happy with our green aprons on, this was Sarah and I's second event (and the most fun we've had in a while) last October 10 —the Knorr Kitchenhood Clinic with Sari Jorge. Fresh from a smartphone launch at Solaire, we went straight to The Cookery (Burgos Circle) and in less than a minute upon arriving very late at the venue, here we are all smiles and ready to do what we love doing, cooking!

We made Chicken Parmigiana using Knorr Complete Recipe Afritada Mix in less than 20 minutes! Very convenient for moms like Sarah who makes it a point to prepare "real" food for her family in spite of her very busy online/offline schedule. She does it with heart. As for me? I rarely have time to cook but when I do, I go all out double heart. One thing I and Sarah have in common though is that we're big fans of Knorr products.

Chicken Parmigiana
serves 4 − 6 pax

4 boneless chicken breast fillet
Knorr seasoning
1/2 cup all purpose flour
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
cooking oil

The smiles in the first photo was just for a split-second. Here's what ensued after…

Parang cooking show lang.

Procedure: Prepare the chicken

1. Heat up some oil in a frying pan.

2. Using a mallet, flatten the chicken breast and season with Knorr seasoning.

3. Dip the flattened chicken in flour, then into the egg and then coat with breadcrumbs.

4. Deep fry the breaded chicken in hot oil...

…until golden brown.

Once cooked, transfer to a baking dish.

Sauce
1 pack Knorr Complete Recipe Mix Afritada
1 cup water
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 Tbsp chopped onions
1 Tbsp chopped garlic
1/2 cup fresh tomatoes
1 tsp sugar
1/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
chopped basil for garnish

Prepare the sauce:

1. Dissolve the Knorr Complete Recipe Mix Afritada in 1 cup of water and set aside.

2. In a saucepan with olive oil, saute the onions and garlic. Add in the fresh tomatoes and the Knorr Complete Recipe Mix Afritada dissolved in water. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.

3. Add in the sugar and fresh basil leaves.

4. Pour the sauce on top of the fried chicken and sprinkle with some parmesan and mozzarella cheese. Bake for 10 minutes or until cheese melts. Garnish with more chopped basil.

5. Serve with pasta (optional).

For its 175th anniversary, Knorr remains true to its mission of providing delicious and flavourful food by launching the Knorr Kitchenhood Clinics - a movement that invites kindred spirits to share their cooking experiences in a community of women with a shared passion and camaraderie. One such woman is Sari Jorge of 25 Mushrooms fame.
A young woman of two, Sari has been gaining steady popularity as a "saviour" in the kitchen for housewives struggling with preparing family meals. Using her passion for food and her years of culinary training in the country and abroad, Sari helps women learn the kitchen basics which give them the confidence to create delicious and innovative dishes for their families.

Wishing to share her knowledge and expertise with others, she opened 25 Mushrooms in her own home. What started out as a training center designed to teach household help simple cooking lessons has now expanded to a favorite culinary gathering for moms, housewives and aspiring cooks in the metro.
Knorr hopes to give moms and homemakers the gift that keeps on giving: the ability to prepare a tasty, delectable dish that brings smiles to the dinner table. It's no wonder that Knorr chose Sari Jorge to lead the Kitchenhood Clinics. Much like Knorr's passion for providing great tasting meals, she too was driven be her passion to equip the Filipino homemaker with the culinary know-how to create good food for Filipino families.

175 Years of Changing Life Through Food

The Knorr Kitchenhood Clinics is paving the way for more and more women to express their passion through cooking. Alongside its 175th anniversary, Knorr culminates the Kitchenhood movement on October 19, 2013 by partnering with the World Food Program (WFP) to present the Food For Change event - a unique food fair at Mercato Centrale, Fort Bonifacio Global City where foodies and cooking aficionados can enjoy tasting samples cooked with Knorr from up to 50 participating concessionaires. This event aims to help increase awareness on the alarming issues of global hunger. Total proceeds generated from the ticket sales will be matched by Knorr and donated to the WFP.

Behind Knorr is a story of passion. Behind every Filipino woman who puts her heart into her cooking is a story of passion. Combining all these elements, this is the legacy that Knorr hopes to continue though its 175th year and the years forthcoming: a passion for good food.
