LOOKBOOK #155 - PROJECT LB 13/365

I attended a kiddie-themed 21st birthday party a few weeks ago and being the ultimate dress-code abiding citizen that I am, I went looking like this.
Topman snapback cap
Topman letterman jacket
Giordano polo shirt
Cheap Monday jeans

HYPE on Lookbook
I know the outfit just calls for it (do not take Paul too seriously!) but hey, it's a party. I even won as best-dressed and got a Topman wallet for my efforts so, not bad.

But on a serious note, have you noticed how adidas started 2014 with probably the best news an adidas fan could ever receive? Myself, included!

For all we know, that "A" on my Topman jacket probably meant adidas. Why not since Topshop has a collaboration coming out with the brand this summer?

Now, for some adidas headlines,

ADIDAS ORIGINALS BRINGS BACK THE STAN SMITH

A global fashion icon is reborn in Spring/Summer '14 as the legendary Stan Smith returns from its sabbatical. Removed from the shelves for the past few seasons, the classic silhouette has been re-invigorated and updated for the modern day, while still staying true to the look and shape of the original.

Since its debut as a tennis shoe, the Stan Smith has made its way from the tennis court to the street, becoming adidas' best-selling shoe of all time, with over 40 million pairs sold. American tennis icon Stan Smith began wearing what was the world's first ever leather tennis shoe in 1971, when he won the US Open on grass and the Davis Cup on clay with the American team. In 1972, he won Winbledon wearing the classic adidas shoe.
Originally introduced and developed for the French tennis player Robert Haillet in the mid-1960s, the name of Stan Smith was added to the tennis shoe, alongside Haillet's, at the start of the 70s, before it was designated as the signature sneaker of the American sporting icon in 1972.
The Stan Smith is now available in leading adidas and Urban Athletics stores in the Philippines.

The engineered mesh upper ensures movement feels natural and provides support where needed. A full-length stability Torsion System allows the runners' heels and forefoot to move naturally while the mid-foot remains flexible and stable. Ultimate grip for better traction in all weather conditions is provided by a high performance Continental rubber outsole.

THE ICONIC COPA MUNDIAL DANCES TO THE RHYTHM OF SAMBA

adidas is proud to unveil the Samba Copa Mundial collection: a series of uniquely styled boots build on the colourful Samba line previously launched at the end of last year and mixes it up with the iconic Copa Mundial —the best-selling boot in football history.

First released in 1982, the Copa Mundial is the best-selling boot in football history and has been worn by some os the all-time greats including Franz Beckenbauer, Michael Platini, Zico & Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Since then it has sold over 10 million pairs and was actually the last revolutionary product innovation created by sporting goods legend and founder of the adidas brand Adi Dassler.

The Samba Copa Mundial is available for purchase in Bootcamp stores and retails at Php9,595.

ADIDAS ORIGINALS BY JEREMY SCOTT SS14

The Spring Summer 2014 collection celebrates the decade long collaboration between legendary designer Jeremy Scott and adidas. While the collection cements the creative relationship between the two, Scott refuses to rest on his laurels. Instead, the New York-based designer pushes ahead with his luxury sportswear vision and, as per usual, the focus lies on bold colours, qualitative fabrics and intricate prints. Scott's signature design is visible throughout the collection, and one of the key themes for SS14 is the pearl embroidery tradition from London. The 'Pearlies', a nick name for East End street traders wearing suits decorated with pearl buttons, emerged in the late 18th century and peaked in the 1970s. For SS14, Scott put hand-stitched pearl buttons on heavy weight jackets and matching tracksuit bottoms with bondage details.

Scott is also sticking to the UK with his SS14 prints - and incorporating himself into the mix. All-over adidas logo prints are crowned with a digital photo print of Scott with a Union Jack face paint. Moving back to the US, Scott also honours his classic American sportswear heritage by offering a cropped and colourful football jersey with all-over haberdashery details and plastic numbers with two-tone gel inside, and a baseball shirt with all-over lace versions in monochrome tones and a grosgrain trim and satin-stitched adidas logo.

Other main pattern themes include the winged dollar sign, florals and leopard prints. All of them classic Jeremy Scott patterns, they have been updated to fit the Spring Summer 2014 aesthetic. Colour-wise Scott re-focuses on the neon palette, either with a bomber jacket in yellow or perforated mesh tops and shorts in orange and green shades. For the bottom half, Scott revitalises the shorts silhouette; denim hot pants with orange velcro belt and the jogger sweat pant with full length sleeves attached to the sides dominate the category.

The SS14 footwear delves into luxury streetwear with the JS Instinct style appearing with a rainbow effect on a premium Italian leather, and the classic Rod Laver shoe model showing up in gold hues and lace jewellery. Newcomers include the TALL BOY shoe model, which - as the name indicates - is big in both size and ambition. Scott's UK inspiration also colours the footwear through a bold Union Jack print on the adidas Letter Instinct trainer, which also comes in a leopard print. While the JS Profi Wedge shoe model continues the lace theme, the JS Wings Easy Five style comes in premium smooth gold leather for women, and the iconic Bones trainer is back with multi-coloured leather and gold Trefoil logo in the font, perfectly summing up not only the key themes for SS14 but also the core design DNA of the Jeremy Scott x adidas brand.

ADIDAS UNLEASHES EXPLOSIVE ENERGY WITH SPRINGBLADE

adidas launches Springblade in the Philippines, the first running shoe with individually tuned blades engineered to help propel runners forward with one of the most effective returns in the industry.

Unlike standard EVA midsoles that deliver energy return in a vertical direction, Springblade features 16 forward angled blades made out of a high-tech polymer. The highly elastic blades instantaneously react to any environment, compressing and releasing energy to create an efficient push-off that feels like you have springs under  your feet.

Each blade is precisely tuned in geometry, thickness and position for each phase of a runner's stride to provide support and a full range of movement. Additionally, Springblade's flexible construction was designed to hug the top of a runner's foot, locking it in to harness the energy returned from the springs on the outsole.
aIT (adidas Innovation Team) tested hundreds of materials to ensure each spring produced maximum energy efficiency with every step and conducted rigorous ballistics tests to maintain long-lasting durability. For top performance in all environments, Springblade is seven times more temperature resistant than shoes with adidas' standard EVA cushioning.

Springblade is available for Php8,995 at adidas Bonifacio High Street, Mall of Asia and Planet Sports Power Plant (Rockwell).
