FUELING UP HAS NEVER BEEN THIS FILLING

This summer, fueling up has become more filling for over 1 million happyplus card members who will earn happypoints on their fuel purchases from over 500 Caltex stations nationwide.

Using the happyplus card, every Php100 fuel up at Caltex will get 1 happypoint which is equal to Php1. The easy to accumulate happypoints can be redeemed for food products in any participating Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich and Red Ribbon outlets nationwide. For example, a single or cumulative fuel purchase of Php1,000 earns 10 happypoints which a motorist can already redeem for a free Vanilla Cone Twirl from a Jollibee store. TRENDING: #OURMETROSUMMER

When I think of summer, two things always pop up in mind. Destination and fashion. Common denominator? Money, of course.

You spend on vacations (sometimes, a little bit more) and along with that, a new set of summer wardrobe. Is the latter even relevant you ask? I'm sure you don't want to be seen on Instagram in the same shorts or tank top which you wore on your last summer escapade from let's say... one or two summers ago? So the answer is yes.

Now I'm not really promoting spending for the sake of just spending (that would be wasteful). If you have the money for it, then there's no issue here. If your priority is vacation but a part of you wants to somehow "update" your look this season without burning a hole in your pocket in the process, then allow me to help.

LENTEN RECIPES FOR ASPIRING SUPERBODS

The Lenten season brings challenges to make no-meat meals as appetizing and flavorful. Thankfully, Century Tuna and nutritionist to the stars Nadine Tengco came up with delectable and filling Lent-friendly recipes for the aspiring Superbods.

Century Tuna Avocado Salad
Serves 2

Ingredients:
1 avocado
1 can Century Tuna Lite Flakes in Veg. Oil, drained
juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tsp olive oil
2 tbsp chopped parsley
2 green onions, chopped
1 medium red bell pepper, roasted, cored, de-seeded, chopped
salt and pepper to taste

Procedure:
1. Cut avocado lengthwise and remove pit. Scoop out flesh and toss in a large bowl.
2. Add lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper. Mash until smooth.
3. Stir in tuna flakes, parsley, green onions, and roasted red bell pepper. Mix well.
4. Divide into 2 portions.
5. Scoop tuna mixture into avocado halves. Serve immediately.
Many of the dishes feature the original healthy meat, Century Tuna Flakes in Oil. Century Tuna contains Omega 3, which helps burn body fat, shrink abdominal fat cells and stop certain genes that trigger inflammation on belly fat, in addition to promoting a healthy heart.

Century Tuna Sisig Rice
Serves 3

Ingredients:
2 cans Century Tuna Hot and Spicy, drained
1/3 cup pineapple juice
1/3 cup chopped onions
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tbsp calamansi juice
1 tsp minced fresh ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp whole black pepper
1 bay leaf (crushed)
Salt to taste
Extended Arroz (see recipe from Arroz a la Century Tuna)

Procedure:
1. Bring to a boil tuna, pineapple juice, bay leaf and whole black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes. Drain and cool to room temperature.
2. Saute garlic, onions, and ginger. Stir in the tuna.
3. Add vinegar and calamansi and cook for 2 minutes.
4. Break egg into tuna mix and stir until egg is cooked.
5. Leave to stand for a few minutes before serving for all flavours to infuse. Serve on top of "extended" rice.
As part of the Superbods Diet, these recipes had been tried - and loved - by Century Tuna ambassadors Anne Curtis and John Lloyd Cruz, as well as Boys Night Out DJs Slick Rick, Tony Toni and Sam YG, who were tapped as 2014 Century Tuna Superbods celebrity challengers.

All five will reveal their Superbods - honed by the Superbods Diet and Workout Plan designed by Nadine and Coach Jim Saret for Century Tuna, respectively - this April 25 to 27 in the country's ultimate summer destination, Boracay.

FROM GRASS TO GLASS: THE JOURNEY OF MAKING THE BEST QUALITY MILK

Not all milk is created equal.

Not all milk is produced the same way, and not all milk companies go through the same meticulous processes and thorough methods to produce the best quality milk.

For instance, the Royal FrieslandCampina’s (RFC) group of companies upholds all the wonderful goodness of gifts of nature and combines these with the most modern of technologies to produce nutritious milk.

RFC is a global top 5 dairy company with over 130 years of experience in producing milk. The 11.1 billion Euro company is composed of dairy cooperatives with about 19,224 member-farmers from The Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. The farmers are rewarded based on their system and on the quality and safety of their milk. Every milk delivery is tested and farmers are paid according to composition, safety and quality, and system, leading to improvement of quality and safety metrics over time.

Cows Treated Like Royalty
Known for its green meadows, blue skies, and pristine lakes, the RFC farms located across Europe are havens for cows that are practically treated like royalty. They graze on nothing but the freshest, cleanest grass across farmlands six hours a day, 120 days a year. In some farms, the water is analyzed more frequently but the minimum requirement is, at least, once a year to ensure that there are no contaminants or water-borne diseases the animals could catch.

Because healthy cows mean premium, quality milk, each cow has a code attached to the collar to help veterinarians track the animal's health regularly.

While traditional farming is still practiced, RFC transits farmers in the best technologies to ensure that benefits generated from modern dairy farming are optimized. The milking equipment are also checked regularly to ensure they are in tip-top shape.

Complete Confidence
After milking, eight quality parameters must be fulfilled to ensure adherence to RFC's standards of quality. Among these parameters are temperature and color, bacterial count, antibiotics, etc.

Once they pass the parameters, the milk is assigned a code for easier monitoring during the entire process before it is transported to high-tech factories across Europe and Asia and exported to over 100 countries all over the world to more than a billion consumers.

Before leaving the factories, the milk is tested to ensure its safety and quality and is, then, assigned a final code before being used for its products that are exported to over 100 countries all over the world and used by over a billion consumers.

Rich analyses, protocols – all these careful processes are carried out to ensure that RFC produces impeccable products. Thus, mothers all over the world who prepare milk for their children can be confident that they are providing the best for their families.

In the Philippines, RFC has entered into a solid partnership with Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC), whose 40 years in the Philippine market has made it a leading milk brand in the country.

Everyday would be an exaggeration but come to think of it, ever since this new Ayala Mall opened, I've been frequenting it at least 2 times a week. Now that's saying a lot considering that the most convenient mall near my place is Trinoma.

In less than a week, I went back to attend a Bench event. Also made my first Almond flour purchase at my favorite part (see latter part of this post) of the mall for these macarons.

The first photo was the last I've been to the place. It was for the launch of the adidas store and the adidas ZX Series.

ADIDAS FAIRVIEW TERRACES STORE OPENING + ZX SERIES LAUNCH

There are a lot of reasons why I love the new Ayala Mall, Fairview Terraces. adidas is one of them.

adidas Philippines officially opened the doors to its newest store at Fairview Terraces Mall. Located at the second floor just above the Activity Area, the new adidas concept store is designed in the brand's signature style. The retail outlet is divided into individual spaces that gives each category, whether Originals or Sports Performance, the room it deserves. The open floor plan allows consumers to easily roam the area and view all of the latest adidas footwear and apparel.
To add to the celebration of the opening of the store, adidas also launched the new line of adidas Originals ZX shoes. The ZX Series was originally born in 1984, heralding a brand new age of athletic running footwear. IL DIVO: A MUSICAL AFFAIR WITH LEA SALONGA

Two members of my family who were envious (probably) of me for missing out on Il Divo: A Musical Affair were my mom (big Lea Salonga fan) and my older brother (he knows his classics). But I, being someone who appreciates both Lea Salonga and Simon Cowell's judgments, also couldn't pass up this rare opportunity to see these amazing vocalists perform live... and together! So, sorry mom, sorry brother, next time maybe?

A Musical Affair is Il Divo's first compilation of songs inspired by Broadway shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Carousel and West Side Story.

The group brought the songs from their latest album to life last March 19 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila alongside Broadway legend and Filipino pride, Lea Salonga.

Adding to the spectacles which were the voices of Il Divo and Lea were the musical accompaniment of ABS CBN Philharmonic Orchestra and the play of lights and images projected on the big LED screen making the evening more magical.

One of the highlights of the evening was when Lea got to sing "A Whole New World" with Il Divo. She even quipped "Ladies, I got to sing A Whole New World with Il Divo" at the end of the number. Lea's solos of Wicked's Defying Gravity and her medley of Les Miserables songs were memorable, too.

Now this guy, is I and Ana's favorite Il Divo. He's awesome.

FLAWLESS BEAUTY DRIP

The first things I did when I got back from my Palawan vacation was to have a haircut at Razor Sports (separate blog coming up!) and of course, a well-deserved facial at Flawless Megamall. Yes, last week was all about "me". Though I enjoyed the whole experience, my basking under the sun incited remarks like "muntik na kitang di mamukhaan sir ah!" or the cliche, "umitim ka!" when I got back. Er, I was under the sun for the most part of the day while I was in Palawan, what else do you expect?

So off to Flawless I go.

Aside from the facial, I also got to experience Flawless' latest service --The Flawless Beauty Drip: The Ultimate Antioxidant. More than what it will do for my sun-battered skin, it was also perfect for what I was feeling during that time.
