It has been customary for me to come up with an article on "looking young" (or at least not looking your actual age) every time I turn a year older. Last time, it was a chemical peel followed by a chemical-based skincare regimen. This time, I'm taking the less drastic route.
Have you heard of glutathione? With all the brands readily-available and billboards scattered around the metro, I'm pretty sure that you do. Now, let's talk about it.

"If you're looking for a watch that will set you apart, this shape has all the right angles." - GQ

Square watch is in! At least that's what GQ is saying in its March 2016 issue.

Fancy that green Nomos Glashutte? It's just $2,320. Now this one's a cooler (pocket-friendly, too!) alternative.

It's the 'Anderson' from the Edwin watch brand.

I've always wanted to own a library just because I love collecting reading materials as much as I love to read. To date, I probably have more than three thousand magazines, comics, and books combined. But even that's the case, I can say that I had a healthy balance of activities I involved myself with growing up as a child and that includes playing rough. Who would've thought? Haha. But my favorite would have to be reading. That's when I started to imagine great things not just for myself, but also, for the world.

Excluding school books, the first reading material I got hooked with (until now!) was Archie. I related to Jughead the most because food! And also, a whole lot of Reggie Mantle just because he's really competitive. Go on an adventure, do well in school, and strive for success (in love and life) were just some of the lessons but the ultimate thing the comics taught me was to enjoy my childhood and have fun!

Reading (the right books) is fun and educational! May it be digital or physical, reading does wonders. I prefer the latter because of the joy of smelling the pages of a newly-opened book and it's hip. It's also a good opportunity for a parent and a child to bond.

UNICEF launches Children First! Storybooks -- a collection of six books that promote reading and inspire children's imagination. Written in Filipino and English text for children ages three and above, the books talk about the different topics such as overcoming shyness, cultivating friendships, and reaching for one's dreams. The stories are presented in colourful illustrations to fire up children's sense of curiosity and wonder.

Written and illustrated by some of the most notable Filipino writers and artists, the collection also includes the storybook Anita, the Duckling Diva written by UNICEF Celebrity Advocate for Children Anne Curtis.

Anita, the Duckling Diva tells the story of how one little duckling overcomes her shyness with the help of her family and friends.

Anita, the Duckling Diva
Story by Anne Curtis-Smith
Illustrations by James Abalos

Anita, The Duckling Diva tells the story of Anita, a young duckling whose shyness masks her amazing singing talent. The story follows Anita's struggles as she tries to gain the confidence to perform in front of a crowd at the Tabing-Ilog Singing Contest.
"I'm very happy to have written my first children's book, which I hope can help children particularly with their self-confidence and self-esteem," Curtis said. "I believe that children should be given all the emotional and moral support they need as they grow so they can express themselves with confidence and explore their full talent.

Apart from teaching important lessons to children, the books also contain a child-friendly version of the convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), as well as internet safety reminders for young people. Proceeds from the book will benefit UNICEF's programs for children in the Philippines and around the world.

Love is a funny thing. At least that's what the local movie scene is trying to teach us with all the romantic comedy films that are showing this love month.

In this particular film, love is not just funny. It's complicated, too.

Based on the hit Wattpad novel of the same title, Girlfriend for Hire tells the quirky and complicated love story of Nami Shanaia San Jose and Bryle Stanford, played by one of today's hottest love teams, Yassi Pressman and Andre Paras.

Filled with belly laughs and kilig moments, the story revolves around Bryle and Nami's agreement to pretend to be in a relationship in order to please Bryle's grandfather.

Nami, a first year HRM working student who lives with her aunt and two cousins, cross paths with Bryle, an arrogant grandchild of the university's founder, in very unlikely situations making them hate each other at the beginning. But with the agreement, the two knew each other better and became closer along the way. Watch the trailer below:

Supporting Andre and Yassi in "Girlfriend for Hire" are Shy Carlos, Donnalyn Bartolome, Clint Bondad, Ara Mina and Ronaldo Valdez.

So what are you waiting for? Catch the swoon-worthy Yandre love team in this year's craziest love story. Showing in cinemas nationwide.

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, Filipinos may still not be sure of what to get for or how to spend that red letter day with their loved ones. Luckily for them, Voyager Innovations and PayMaya Philippines, the digital innovations units of PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), have the ultimate wingmen for them.

Shopping discovery platform Takatack and digital payments mobile app PayMaya can help Filipinos ace the two most challenging parts of this special day - gifts and dates.

Takatack has all the traditional gifts you may want to give your special someone, such as chocolates and sweets. And with over 400,000 products, the site should also be your go-to destination if you want to choose a more unique gift, such as a new camera for the budding photographer in your life or a baking set for your favorite chef.

Rebecca Ricalde, Assistant Vice President for Digital Commerce at Voyager Innovations, believes that the wide range of products at Takatack makes it the best place to choose your Valentine's Day gift.

"Let's face it: Gift-giving, especially on Valentine's Day, is not easy. You want to choose the right gift for your special someone, but its a tall task to run around a crowded mall, shuffling from store to store. With close to half a million products, Takatack makes the process easier by allowing you to find the perfect item, all just a click away, " said Ricalde.

Once you find the right gift, you can have it delivered directly to your special someone for a one-of-a-kind, doorstep surprise, which Ricalde feels is a nice touch for the occasion.

“Much of what makes Valentine’s Day exciting is anticipation. You look forward to February 14, knowing that you’ll be able to spend quality time with your special someone. Sending them a gift via Takatack communicates this excitement to them in a way that nothing else can. A gift says that you are thinking of them and are counting the hours until you can celebrate the holiday together,” she said.

Takatack also feels that romance doesn’t need to be expensive. Beginning February 1st and ending on the day of Valentine’s itself on February 14th, Takatack will offer a selection of special gifts from partner merchants that come with a discount. As these have all been curated by Takatack, customers will find it easier to choose a great gift for their special someone. The categories in this curated selection include: For Him, For Her, and Love Wins.

Takatack will also offer several other promos. From February 1 to 12, a coupon code will allow users to get 500 pesos off a minimum purchase of 2000 pesos, so long as the items are fulfilled by Takatack. From February 1 - 5 and again from February 8 to 14, a coupon code will be revealed at 2:14 each day and expire at 2:14 the next day that will give new users a one-time 15% off discount for items fulfilled by Takatack for a maximum discount of 2000 pesos.

Once you’ve ordered the perfect gifts from Takatack, you still need to actually celebrate Valentine’s day on Sunday, February 14. Unfortunately, many of the one-of-a-kind experiences you would want to share with your special someone on that day may require a credit card, and fewer than 5% of Filipinos own one. What, then, is the hopeful lover supposed to do?

For them, there is PayMaya. Launched late last year, PayMaya is a free digital payments mobile app that gives you a unique card number so that you can pay online without a credit card.
Getting PayMaya is easy, fast, and FREE. To get your online payment details, all you need to do is download the PayMaya app, which is available on both the App Store and Google Store, and sign up with your mobile number. You are then issued a Visa card number, its expiration date, and a security code. PayMaya functions like a prepaid card - you can load it up at any 7-Eleven, SM Business Center or Robinson’s Business Center and then shop online or sign up to subscriptions wherever VISA is accepted.
In addition to serving as a free online payment app, PayMaya also offers a physical card that you can use to pay at brick-and-mortar stores wherever Visa is accepted. PayMaya is powered by VISA and is regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to ensure all your transactions are secure.

You could, for example, take your Valentine’s Day date to watch a concert that you booked on TicketWorld, before ending the evening at your home, ordering delivery from foodpanda and watching a romantic comedy on recent Philippine arrival, Netflix.

Of course, you could splurge even further and choose to book seats on Philippine airlines and a stay at an exotic AirBNB in another city or country even, all courtesy of PayMaya. Now how’s that for a Valentine’s day to remember?

Fueled by Voyager Innovations, aggregates many trusted online stores, including some that are among the largest, like the Rocket Internet-backed Zalora, together with the thousands of merchants who established their own online shops through the TackThis! platform. also offers some of the top brands, including CLN-Celine, VMV Hypoallergenics, Zen Nutrients, ShopTV by the Home Shopping Network, Philips, Digits Trading, Hickok Leather Brand, Candy Corner, Happy Socks, Jaybird, Li-Ning, Marshall, and Sassa. The Takatack platform also offers emerging brands like Straightforward, Fledge Clothing, Ziya, and La Mer Collections.

PayMaya is a three-in-one financial technology product, including a free online payment app that consumers can use to shop online, a physical card that can be used to pay at any Visa-accepting brick-and-mortar establishment, and a BEEP card that commuters can use for their fare on the LRT / MRT lines.

I must admit that one of the reasons why I've found an interest in archery is the Hunger Games books. I wouldn't say that I'm crazy about the trilogy (and the movies as well) but there's something badass, albeit primitive, about being able to hunt and defend yourself with just a bow and an arrow. You know what else is badass? Being able to actually do it Legolas-style! Complete with orcs as targets, running for dear life while loading an arrow in the process, minus the tumbling and rolling of course. Add the pressure of a time limit and you'll get an exciting way to enjoy archery!

So if you're planning on a weekend beach trip up north, why not include the latest attraction of Sandbox in your itinerary?
