KIPLING PHILIPPINES LAUNCHES ITS NEW CONCEPT STORE AT SM AURA PREMIER

Kipling is one of those bag brands that I thought won't get a spot in my arsenal of all things bag because I find it "too young" for me. But what is deemed pang-matanda or pambata nowadays? Because I've seen people much, much older than me wearing/using items that are intended for a younger market and they're rocking it better than their juniors. So what I'm trying to say is that I've found a fresh appreciation for brands like Kipling who are keeping up with the times but still in touch with their origins, and this time, one that is cool and gender-inclusive and authentic to its roots.

What made me changed my mind? All it took was for me to experience what Kipling is now and understand their newest global vision, Live Light, at the opening of their SM Aura Premier store last June 6, 2019.

NEW STORE AT SM AURA AND THE FEATURED ARTIST
With KIPLING's new vision, it's but fitting to update the brand's stores. KIPLING will refresh its stores worldwide, which includes the Philippines, to visually express its new creative direction. The new key principles will translate the brand’s unique and modernized attitude into the store designs, led by the principle of urban curiosity, which calls out to the spirit of exploration and adventure close to the hearts of customers. The stores will be featuring monkey elements, including a mural painted in collaboration with local artists from the Philippines. One of which would be Kipling’s latest store at SM Aura. It exemplifies the brand’s new creative principles. The featured artist for the store at SM Aura is Doodle Artist Lei Melendres. Lei is among the Philippines’ most celebrated doodle artists and illustrators and has collaborated with top brands. He provides a general mix of creativity by serving local and foreign clients using Infinity Mix, a three-fold style that describes the intensity of endless details and elements interacting together to form a composition through doodle art. His style has made it to the pages of international art books where his first UK-based coloring book, Zifflin Doodle Fusion, was a hit on bookstores. Another three coloring books were also published in New York.
The mural illustrates a day in the life of an artist who multitasks in the hustle and bustle of Bonifacio Global City. It focuses on the massive details of natural elements and technology interacting with one another. The poise of the subject in a relaxed manner while enjoying the richness of music is a showcase if finesse to keep him cool and alive. The flow of the artwork also explores the emotional links between technology and lifestyle. It's like picking different flowers from the same field where they all look good and complement with one another in scent and aesthetics.
